October 1st is International Coffee Day

October 1st International Coffee Day PIC

We drink coffee because it’s good, because it wakes us up, because of morning rituals or afternoons spent with friends, partners or dates. So why not celebrate it? Lets gather all over the globe and have a big cup of coffee together !

The International Coffee Organisation (ICO) has designated October 1st as INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY. This is a day for celebrating coffee in all its diversity, enjoying the passion that coffee creates as well as taking the opportunity to inform people about coffee as a product.

75 Member States of the ICO and dozens of coffee associations from around the world have joined forces to celebrate the first official International Coffee Day on 1 October 2015.

As part of the celebrations, the ICO is working together with Oxfam to collaborate on a campaign focused around the concept of a ‘Caffè Sospeso’, an Italian tradition of paying for a second cup of coffee to be given to a person in need. The charity campaign entitled a ‘Caffè Sospeso Against Poverty’, will give coffee lovers around the world an opportunity to show solidarity with smallholder coffee farmers by donating the value of an additional cup of coffee to Oxfam’s work with such farmers via an online platform.

Join us in celebrating a journey of diversity, quality and passion. Let’s celebrate coffee at its best at your favourite coffee shop. It doesn’t matter if your go-to is a strong, black coffee or a fruity and easy going espresso.

Do something special on International Coffee Day, have a special event in your local coffee shop, or maybe just arrange to meet your friend, partner or date for a lovely cup of coffee, but make sure everyone knows about it!

So share with the world what you’re doing on 1st October, by using the hashtag #internationalcoffeeday

Get involved and have fun!
